Garlic Harvest

25/07/2014

For the past two years I haven’t had the greatest garlic harvests. In autumn of 2012 I mulched too heavy so that when the plants tried to emerge from the soil they had a real struggle and were weak by the time I finally noticed. Then with all the water we had last summer, they kind of just rotted in the ground. This season they were all doing great, and then after a few heavy rains just kind of collapsed and never recovered (like the shasta daisies!) so I harvested them today. I got more and they look better than last summer, but still not as good as the first couple of seasons since I started growing garlic….
